tour description
  • Starting in the south of Salzburg you follow the B 159 along the Salzach River via Hallein to Golling. If you are good in time, visit Café Maier (or do it on the way back) in the center of Golling, you never will forget the ice cream there and the delicious fancy cakes.
  • 500 m south of Golling turn left on the B 169 to the picturesque Lammertal to Abtenau and Gosau. Following the signs to Lake Gosau you will have a fantastic view of the only glacier of the Eastern Alps, the Dachstein .
  • Carry on to the Village of Hallstatt on Lake Hallstatt and see the famous museum of the "Hallstatt age", including the "man in the salt". If you reach Bad Aussee around lunch time, go up the Loser mountain road (toll € 5.-) for a wonderfull panorama view.
  • Carry on to Bad Goisern and visit Bad Ischl, the summer residence of the last Austrian - Hungarian Emperor , Franz Joseph I.
  • Return to Salzburg over the Pötschenpass to St. Gilgen, keep right to Gmunden, at Mitterweissenbach turn left to Unterach and Attersee , at Unterach again half left to Mondsee and then to St. Gilgen, Lake Wolfgangsee, Fuschl and Lake Fuschl (notice when entering Fuschl the very interesting glass / water - architecture of the world headquarters of Red Bull company).
  • If you drive the whole loup, you will see 6 lakes or even, it's up to you, 8 lakes. If you plan to see some touristic highlights like salt mines, museums etc., we would suggest to do this tour in 2 days. Do not hesitate to ask us for accomodations.
